(Applicable only to credit cards with chip)
With ATEbank credit cards and chip technology your transactions are now safer!
Now, your PIN (personal identification number) - which you will receive a few days after receiving your card - is required for all your transactions!
PIN use in purchases
For your purchases at any shop in Greece and abroad, typing your PIN on the POS when making a purchase is required.
After the purchase is completed, the shop's employee inserts your card on the POS and asks you to type your PIN.
After completing successfully the transaction, the POS printout will be given to you along with your card. Your signature is not required.
In some cases, when the POS does not support yet the chip technology, you will be asked to sign the transaction printout instead of typing your PIN.
PIN use in ATM cash withdrawals
For every ATM cash withdrawal in Greece or abroad, your PIN remains necessary exactly as it was until today!
In transactions through internet, phone, mail order, etc your PIN is not necessary.
The PIN is strictly personal and will never and in no way be asked by ATEbank. You must memorize it, destroy the notification form, not note it anywhere and be particularly careful while typing it.
